Unicore arranged a cross-trade air shipment of industrial spare parts from Singapore Changi to Almaty for a Latvian logistics and trading company that supplies customers in Kazakhstan. Eight crates, 3,360 kg gross, flew with an IATA carrier on a neutral air waybill controlled by Unicore, with pickup and export handling in Singapore and handover to the customer's broker in Almaty. The cargo never entered Latvia; the Riga office ran the booking and the documents.

The Challenge
The customer sits in Latvia, the goods were in Singapore and the buyer is in Kazakhstan, so routing the parts through Riga made no sense — it would add a leg, an EU import and a second export for nothing. The parts were heavy for their size: eight crates of 225 × 60 × 73 cm come to 7.88 m³ and 1,314 kg volumetric against 3,360 kg gross, about 420 kg a crate, so the airline rates the shipment on actual weight and the crates need proper handling at both ends. The customer wanted the air waybill controlled by a forwarder in Riga instead of contracting a Singapore agent directly. The consignee's broker in Almaty also had to receive a document set it could clear on.
How Unicore Handled It
- Booked the cargo with an IATA carrier out of Singapore Changi on a neutral air waybill controlled by Unicore, so the customer's supplier and buyer never appear on each other's paperwork.
- Arranged origin pickup in Singapore and export handling through Unicore's local agent.
- Checked the chargeable weight before booking: 8 crates at 225 × 60 × 73 cm give 7.88 m³ and 1,314 kg volumetric, well under the 3,360 kg gross, so the shipment was rated on actual weight with no surprises at the airline's scale.
- Coordinated arrival handling in Almaty and handed the shipment over to the customer's own broker for import clearance in Kazakhstan.
- Managed everything from Riga, the same control point Unicore uses for its other Almaty air shipments this year, among them 1,742 kg of fertilizer samples from Madrid and 1,108 kg of cosmetics and 1,118 kg of spare parts from Riga.
