A Latvian automotive spare-parts dealer had five crates of engine parts ready to ship in Ningbo, 3,824 kg in total, and Unicore moved them to Riga as LCL in a shared container, so no 20' box had to be booked for cargo that would have left most of it empty. Unicore booked the sea leg from Ningbo under a bill of lading, consolidated the crates at origin, deconsolidated them at the Riga CFS, lodged the Latvian import declaration and delivered to the dealer's site in Kurzeme, western Latvia.

The Challenge
Five crates, the two smallest 113×90×99 cm and the tallest 111×111×153 cm, weigh 3,824 kg together and take up roughly 7 m³ going by their dimensions. That is far too heavy for parcel services and nowhere near enough to fill a 20' container, so booking FCL would have meant paying for space the dealer did not use. The dealer imports engines and parts regularly and also has LCL cargo coming in from Shanghai and Cape Town, so each Chinese consignment had to ship as soon as it was ready, with customs handled in Latvia and the crates driven on to Kurzeme after clearance.
How Unicore Handled It
- Booked LCL space from Ningbo to Riga under a bill of lading, so the dealer pays only for the share of a shared container its five crates take up.
- Received the crates at the origin CFS in Ningbo and consolidated them with other shippers' cargo into one container.
- Deconsolidated the container at the Riga CFS and set the dealer's five crates aside for clearance.
- Filed the Latvian import customs declaration for the spare parts before the crates left the Riga terminal.
- Delivered all five crates by road to the dealer's site in Kurzeme, western Latvia.

- 3,824 kg of engine spare parts in five crates moved from Ningbo to a Kurzeme address without a container of their own.
